APRI has built and is in the process of demonstrating a battery charge control system. The apparatus pictured below includes a battery pack with eight Li-ion cells, a resistive load, a power supply, and a personal computer which controls the experiment. The battery pack is cycled to simulate a typical LEO satellite mission, which is approximately 30 minutes in eclipse on battery power followed by approximately 60 minutes in the sun charging the batteries.
